Backyard Bounty: Beans, Cucumbers, Watermelon Radishes, & Beets

One of the things I love about growing food is the adventure of growing new varieties of plants. I love the colors that emerge, watching the progress of growth that's made after a few days of steady rain, and the anticipation of the harvest. We have several new foods in the garden this year.
Here's a glimpse at some of our recent harvests...
heirloom Italian Rose bush beans
(I think their color is just lovely.)

 our first cucumber

heirloom watermelon radishes

heirloom Early Wonder and Chiogga beets
(We love beet greens almost more than the beets.)

We're getting very close to being able to walk out to the garden and the coop and collect breakfast, lunch, or dinner just from our backyard. That's a great feeling!
