Tillery Tot School- Letter H

This week we learned about the letter "H". To be honest I was a little surprised at how many fun things we could come up with. Here is a look at our Tot School Board:
Our Bible Verse was Proverbs 3:5 again this week because of the emphasis on the word "heart."

We made a horse using a lowercase "h."
We played with a magnetic horse set (borrowed from Nana).
We practiced putting marbles on golf tees for some fine motor practice. Seth was bored with this after doing it two times. So then we practicing hammering the tees.
I printed a paper city that included a helicopter and landing pad. We colored the pieces and then had fun playing with our helicopters.
I made a special lunch for Seth one day that included a small helmet sandwich and a house sandwich.
I think he was impressed because he gobbled it up!I had a lot of hats stored in the basement from my classroom teaching days. I brought them up and we had fun trying on all the different kinds.
Even Bryan was a good sport and tried on lots of different hats.
Seth's favorite was a knight's helmet.
He has been wearing it around the house all week.
Because Seth is a huge fan of marbles, we did another activity with them. We practiced dropping them into a bottle and after a few times I made it more challenging by asking him to use a spoon.
This was very challenging and he only got one or two marbles in the bottle using the spoon, but I think he will be more than willing to try over and over. The boy loves marbles!
We made a house using different foam shapes.
We read The Hat by Jan Brett. The main character is a hedgehog so we not only talked about hats some more, but we also focused on the hedgehog.
(I used to have a hedgehog and they are very cool little animals.)
We ate a snack using a bamboo skewer with a paper hedgehog attached to it. The skewer represented the "prickles."
The next day we made a leafy hedgehog after picking out our leaves from the yard.
With so much emphasis being placed on letters, I felt like we needed to focus on identifying numbers. We practiced matching foam numbers to numbers written on a piece of paper. (We need lots more practice with this.)
So for this coming week we are going to do a review of S, E, T, and H. We are going to do some fun name activities and we are going to learn more about numbers. We are going to practice identifying and counting from 0 to 10.
